Maybe not really related to the original post, but reading these stories I can’t help thinking of the blackball situation here in SD. Thankfully, the checkered flag is gone for the winter. Nothing is worse than having the lifeguards roll up in the morning and plant the flag on the wrong side of a good peak. Then, they proceed to corral all of the surfers to one side of the line. The density then becomes just plain dangerous. I know they have an incredibly hard job here with all the kooks, but sometimes I swear they are just Fing with us. What happened to discretion? Especially when there are not even any swimmers in the area. How can this possibly improve ocean safety?
