Surfmat Question

run…

where where you swimming underwater for this elusive cylinder

greg

and what is your name and where are you located??

greg

gcs1 – I have Viper yellow dots, is that what you are talking about? I don’t know the model names but I like them a lot for paipo and kneeboarding. UDeeT – I couldn’t wear them when I first tried them; until my feet and ankles gained strength I used makapuus (sp?) I still like those sometimes. With different fins I have a different “stroke” a faster stroke with short fins and I think my legs may be a little straighter. Try em on try em on try em on. May I also highly recommend fin socks to prevent sore spots and keeping your tootsies toasty. I will get off my soap box now.

Greg,

Heh, in my haste and stoke-filled-Ambrose-inspired-cryptic mental stream prior post I forgot to mention my real name as, no, my folks didn’t name me run.

My name is Derrick (dunno if you remember, no worries) and you helped me get a couple pairs of udts a short while back.

The beach was just some anonymous local beachbreak.

The missed set was pilot error, I was a bit out of position, but its cool, I still caught more than my fair share that morning.

The stoke I was trying to convey was: even through “judged criterial” mistakes the whole bodysurfing experience of total immersion in the environment is a joyful trip. There is no ‘back-of-my-mind’ caution of being hit by your board in a closeout. Sometimes there isn’t even a will to make the most of the wave, or appear aesthetically cool; it’s just immerse yourself in the barrel, ride it to the absolute end of existence and have that image scarred into your brain, pop up with a big grin.

The udt’s are a very good (minimalist?) tool to experience some pretty insane moments of joy out there I have forgot since being a kid, and some cool places IN the wave I hadn’t ever even thought of before!

Good waves to you.

Hey greg! i’m interested in buyin some of the UDT’s that you’ve got, would you mind emailing me with more info? thanks!
