Hi, was checking out a few of the single fins on this website and had a look Resource # 194. You write in the description that it rides like a ‘dog’. I’m just wondering in what way, slow or stiff or anything else? regards, Håvard
Oh yeah and what’s the big difference design wise between that one and Resource # 197 that you write really like, they look so much the same… regards, Håvard
Havard, To be quite honest I haven’t ridden either board in perhaps two years. Basically, as I remember it, the major difference was how they responded off the bottom turn. On a hard bottom turn, which is essentially the basis of my riding style, the dog board would basically bog down and loose all speed. Instead of coming about and responding with a positive force back up into the wave, this board would tip over and loose speed. This necessitated a very “careful” riding style. The other board was a joy to come off the bottom on. Basically if you laid into a bottom turn, the board would come about predictably and carry speed. I never really experimented with alternate fin setups, but I always suspected the turning behavior of the dog had to do with with its very flat rocker in the rear 2/3’rds of the board rather than any particular fin. Hope that helps. S
