Swaylocks 'gang' sign

The other day I was watching as a young miscreant was being sentenced for some drug offense. While the judge was talking, the young man was making continuous hand gestures. A police officer nearby said he recognized the gestures as gang signs, as he had just completed gang training. This kid was letting the crowd in the gallery know with whom he was affiliated.

Naturally, I feel swaylockers and lurkers could benefit from a such a sign, so as to signify who is down and who is not. I propose double shakas connected at the right pinkie and left thumb to form a large ‘S.’ Word!

This post is somewhere between 2 and 3 % serious.

Hmmm… left hand low/right hand high… against chest… left thumb and right pinkie joined.

It occurred to me that this proposal is probably too american. I’m not sure if gang signs are as pervasive in other cultures. I’ve been warped by hanging/working with criminals all the time.

What about knee-bumps? How many of you remember/still have those? (And toes-bumps, too…)

There was a time when “real” surfers could be immediately spotted from posers, just looking at their knees…

We don’t seem to have this kind of physical characteristics among shapers, do we? Over-developped right arm through the repeated use of the Skill 100?

A gang? No way. We are more like a motley crew, more suggestive of a mismatched, raggle-taggle bunch of less than organized troops. And proud of it!!

At first, I thought “the WWII war hero who later played for the LA Rams 1946-1947?”
