couldn’t find any videos on Barnfield, Fowler, Jim Dunlop, Shwuz, GregTate, Daniels Halcyon, Herb, or Trevor(huie)

Thanks for putting this all together!

Wow , thanks for that .

Cheyne and NPJ used to post iirc

Ryan Lovelace has done pretty well with his shaping. Didn’t he start out here?  Does Cheyne shape.  He’s one of the iconic professional surfers for sure. Mike

Was Tom Stone on Swaylocks at some point Oneula?

Randy Cone posts once in a great while although he might not be a fan of Swaylocks based on some past comments in TSJ. Hahaha

I think Randy Cone left because lots of folks here had no idea who he was and were making really ignorant critiques of his work, not knowing that he is the real deal (when it comes to guns).

Danny Hess used to share info here too.

I think you are right Llilibel.
Too bad too because both those guys are incredible at what they do.

Thanks Oneula, Love you guys, humbled to be part of such a good group. Mahalo, larry

He posted here for a short time way back huge back story if you can find the story about “the tree”

Awesome! Oneula thanks for putting this together & posting it.

Haven’t done much shaping for a few years now, but I’m honored and humbled that I’m still included among those VERY talented names!

I just happened across this thread when I came to post a surfshop ad to sell some stuff from a box of shaping gear a friend hooked me up with today… No coincidences, I say.

it has been a steller last few years for me, 2013 induction to the Inernational Surfboard builders Hall of Fame at Doheny by Bob “The Greek Bolan”, well going in the Way Back Machine last night to the Manasquan theater of the arts, myself, Tinker and Balsa Bill were inducted into the New Jersey Surfing Hall of Fame, I saw people that I had not seen since just before Christmas of 1967. Grog and his brother Chris realted how they were coming back from the outer banks and saw me thumbing on the side of the road in Delaware, stopped and asked where I was going, I said Jersey and they said that’s where we’re going.

We all got to speak a piece and after relating how New Jersey was the pivital point in my surfing and shaping career, first contest win and the chance meeting of Tinker, plus from that point on the many great shapers that I had the pleasure of working for and with and the many contests titles that I had aquired.

I had an icy brew before getting on stage and by the time the MC got to me I thought I was about to pee my pants, a short while later between the second half of inductees getting on stage, I beat it to the head for a return of the beer and after had one the the attendees tell me that I sounded like a dick up there blowing my own horn, but he continued to say that when I had wrapped up my piece, he saw how I had brought the story back around to where if I had not gone to New Jersey in March 1966 for the Seaside Heights Businessmans contest and win every heat to the finals, that I very well would not have  returned to meet Bob Rible at the next event and Tinker who would set my career into motion and fast track me to where I am today. It was very heart warming to all who came to introduce themselves to me afterwards and say how much they were moved by my speech

Hilarious. Good story.  You are a credit to geniuses everywhere.

All the best

Dale Solomonson

Not sure if there is video of him, but I think he should be mentioned.
