I’ll make this short. I just want to thank EVERYBODY that contributes to Swaylock’s forum for keeping it “real” and mostly sane.
Today I decided to look at Surfermag’s forum and cracked my jaw on the desk. The top three threads were as follows: Beware Boarder Jumpers, My roommate is a homosexual, and Do you like midget strippers? What in the Hell does any of that have to do with surfing or better yet, surfboard design? It sounds more like a forum out of Hustler magazine!!!
I’m no prude, I just think that material belongs in a surfing forum.
It’s a different forum for different tastes. There is a surfing design forum if you wanna talk surf design.
The general forum is there for just about anything. Whatever is on people’s minds. It isnt as fine tuned toward a certain subject as this forum - and there isnt anything wrong with that.
I agree that there is nothing wrong with people speaking their mind, but doesn’t it seem odd to you that it would be hosted on a surfing website? It’s kinda like posting a vacuum bagging thread on bassfishing dot com.
Anyhoo…at least I now know there is more to it than just random postings.
They call the main page “surfer discussion”. Weird as it may seem, if you listen to a couple younger surfers talking in a parking lot…you’d probably hear alot of the same stuff being talked about on surfermag.com. That’s why they created the design forum section for people that just wanna talk boards.
The design forum on the surfermag.com site occasionally has interesting posts, but most of all I like the pics TFAD who works at Moonlight Glassing contributes. Really nice glass jobs. There are a few other posters that are doing some nice work too. Bonzers and fishes seem to be popular on that site too. Still nothing can compare to the one and only SWAYLOCKS…
I go over there occasionally but most of the real hard cores are here. This is a bit more progressive and a bit more thought provoking. Little easier to navigate and everything you write goes into archive which you can retrive or refer to.
SrPato,
Funny you should mention. I saw the coolest vac bagged epoxy bass boat when I was in FL. 20 something foot hull… under 80 lbs. Me and a buddy picked it up. I couldn’t beleive it. So light their gonna power it with something like a 40 horse.
