Still a few days to make the call. Sunny, 5ft and fun…glassy too. Spraky cold beer…free sand paper, tape, and those red scrubby pads to all that participate…maybe a gas mask, safety goggles, and a Tyvex suit too…just in time for Halloween.
Driving up with LeeV and Patrick… see ya late Thursday I hope.
Stuff fo’ trade…anyone need an older Clark Hitachi? I have one for parts and one that runs fine? Or a 653 for you “let’s hog it fast” guys?
weather forecast seems to have calmed down quite a bit.
… photos please , guys ?? …
cheers !
ben
thinking of you Ben… you’ll be happy to know I have just charged my camera.
My big lense is in storage but i will try with the smaller lenses to get some shots for you.
cheers Chris !
GoPro , too, hopefully ?
[ we still haven’t seen any water shots from there yet !]
cheers and have FUN !

If its like last year, Thursday will be a day for a walk on the beach. 18 foot sand dollar closeouts don’t sound like fun.
Pancakes and bacon for breakfest…high tech stuff after lunch…aches and pains later…surf for everyone all weekend !!! big tide swings

I’ll try with the Gopro too Ben.
I really wish I had a Gopro on me last year when Lavarat and Deyess took off on that one DOH wave together.
the view from the shoulder was pretty good.

Stormsurf is calling for a much more friendly 11 foot faces. The Mrs. Is coming this year to keep me in line.
that sounds fun too Everysurfer…
now if Resinhead comes, we’ll get sun too!
I know…I have been called the Santa Claus of Surfing Supplies. Or the Robinhood of something…stealing from the corporate world and giving to the lame and mis guided glassers & sanders of the free world.
I will bring my camping ensemble… plastic spoon, sleeping bag and a roll of plastic. wax, wetsuit…board, plastic spoon is to eat off of your plate when you are not looking, aka robinhood.
LeeV checked and apparently the drought is bad enough that campfires and charcoal fires are not allowed…at least as of August, and I don’t think they’ve had enough rain to change that… at least we should have sunshine during the days, and head high surf.
yeah…I don’t think the size of the surf will be the issue. I think it will be paddling out.
I’m bringing a boogie board.
Damn. I’m missing it. Would have been 6 years in a row. Even Isabel is bummed. She’s grown up doing Swayholics. Next year, hopefully with a new board… take pics. Stay safe. Stay safe but pull in if you have the chance.
I’m heading for a camp-out of my own this weekend, on a remote coastline on the southern edge of the Australian continent facing Antarctica. Swell forecast is 3.7m @ 18 seconds, from a direction that might just light up a little-known secret spot. I’ll be thinking of you guys up there at Big Sur.
No, I lie, I’ll be too busy just focussing on survival, but the sentiment is there.
Have fun anyway.
the swell is…
HERE!
walked my little girl to school and there were waves EVERYWHERE.
including a outer peak (200 yds out) that was spitting both ways on almost every wave.
lookin’ forward to seein you guys in Plaskett!
mmmmmmm the smell of coastal sage…
the caw of the stellar jay
the silent sunday predawn walk to the beach
when there are no cars driving hwy 1.
and if you whistle,… all the birds will too…
… ambrose…
I did a quail call
‘sit right there’
All surfed out and too tired to post the pics? How was it?
My consolation for not being able to go this year was that locally the windswell made for some really fun surf…
