I’m farm sitting up in the hills above Port Mcquarie until Christmas…
I’m organizing a HWS workshop for early December if anyone’s interested…???..
Hey Paul
I was just given the frame for a hollow board - just the stringer and the stations. Looks an intresting challenge…may put it together with a bunch of school kids - looks like a fun project. I’ll post the results.

Hey Ben
Many thnaks for your eforts there mate…I’m enquiring as I just recieved and invitation to apply for an Aussie skilled migrant visa yesterday - whole systems changed so its been a nail biter waiting for the invitation…the upshot of it is that I’ll be bringing my family over there some time in the not too distant - haoping to have the visa complete within 6 months max so its any time beyond that…we will be sydney bound as my wife’s sister has just returned to live in Cronulla…think we will therefore be as close to them as possible…and alas I will be landing with a planer, sander, a bunch of templates and a head full of ideas without anywhere to work or buy materials from…some adventure!!!
I already have a brother in law over in Bunbury so we will most definately be over your way and of course I would love to hook up and try your fins!
Cheers

great stuff !
you will love cronulla and the south coast especially , as I seem to remember you are a naturalfooter and like right reefs ?
you will find sways people not far away , when you are in cronulla ...besides the 'pirate' man , caringbah is a nearby area , too...and wollongong and south is not too far a drive away ...
"entity" [a few hours drive south] is a boardbuilder by trade ...
maybe when you are in cronulla I can post you some fins to try in some real waves .
cheers
ben
Yeah Ben,
I spent a summer in Cronulla, and took a trip upto Byron for a week a good few years ago when my in laws were living there previously so I know a little bit of the surrounding area - loved Sydney but I’m a bit of a country boy (right know I live in Porthleven which is a sleepy fishing village…but it does have an amazing granite reef…so we have a few real waves to play with) so I may end up settling a little on the outskirts - but I guess where will depend on fiinding a job to start with - I teach Design in Secondary school over here so I’m hoping that a job will not be too much of a problem. I’m already loving the thought of trying your fins in some of my boards - I’ve been flirting with making some using a CNC routed core, have made wooden fins in past but never made any to fit into exsisting boxes such as FCS so that may be a future project for myself.
I will definately keep in touch as my application progresses.

Sleepy fishing village with real waves to play with??. When you get here, in winter drive a few hours south for similar conditions hehe. Im about 90 mins south of cronulla. Much less crowded down this way, but if you don't mind crowds, there's heaps of spots up there. Good luck and let us know how it goes mate
Hey Beerfan, Where are you Wollongong? I made it as far as the the beaches just south of the National Park - would it have been Stanwell Park? Didnt venture any further down last visit…
Cheers

As Chip says, there’s heaps of us here (though a lot don’t post much - like me!!!). Chip knows us all, he’s the “Godfather” of Aussie Swaylocians :-). Me…I’m from the north coast of NSW, in a little fishing village called Evans Head (no waves here though ;-)).
Cheers.
hahaha !
.....you flatter me , craig !
I think 'huie' is the godfather ... he has experienced more australian surfing history here than I've had , and of course ...don't forget ...MIDGET is here on sways , too !! .....
but , yes , thirdshade ,
I hope you will get to visit them ALL in time ?!
I really think you will enjoy the south coast for starters , being used to the cooler temps and less crowds , and all...[winter there]
then ,
cyclone season ...northwards ho ! [summertime]
....autumn and spring to make boards ....
have to change your name to ["you got it] made in the shade" , then , eh , mate ?! :)
cheers
out west [but not a " westie " ! ] ben
home for me too !!!
Hey Thirdshade
Im at Kurnell
Im a glasser and sander, i know some places to hook up with supplies.
I also like the quiet side of life and surfing
Surf and work midweek and on weekends drive 2 1/2 hours camping down the south coast to escape.
