if any of you guys got some sweet old boards and feel like posting up some pics please do so

Consider yourself fortunate to have the privilege to add your character to a great piece of our history.  What’s the story on it??  How did it happen into your shop?  Who’s the client and does he know the history on it?  Talk story to us about this board.  Lowel

well im not sure how the guys (father and son) found out about my shop but they just walked in one day and brought that board in. the father told me about how he bought that board way back in the day for $100 and surfed it to near death, then one day they decided to go get it restored. before they got it restored they contacted Hap and Dale (they told the owner that they would sign it under one condition, that the board would still be ridden when it was all fixed up)to make sure they would sign it after it was restored. but during the process of the board getting fixed up Dale passed away.

so they got a piece of paper with his signature on it with a little memorial on it, and brought it to me. i had Ace turn the piece of paper into a laminate and added it on the board and glassed over the lam and signature to seal it in and do some polishing. Now the board is sitting hear waiting for its owner to come pick it up and go surf it.

one thing i was really surprised about is the board only came out to 22 pounds, that to me seams really light, i think this board would be tons of fun to ride down at some of the sun set cliffs spots, so i hope the owner rides and enjoys his awesome board

22 Pounds? Wow Thats liter then the  Hobie Super Light That i had in 1966 or 67 Anyway Hobie advertised it was the lightest Board made at 24 lbs

a noble effort.

…ambrose…

chambered?

yes, the blue fin was an add on to the board and the black pigmented areas are where the worst damage was done so they decided to cover it up

when i knock on it it sounds solid to me but i have not had alot of experience with chambered boards

How cool is that sdrepairman?!!  They brought it to the right guy.  Mike

Hi sdrepairman -

Nice job on that one!

SD-

Agreed, nicely done and good story. Is the blue original or part of one of the renovations? I like the minimal but stylish design.

Killer craftsmanship sdrepairman!  Any before shots?  Length?
The freckling on that old balsa is a beaut!
Like very few women this board is truly sexy.
