I like fin socks because they keep my toes and the top of my feet from getting blisters. I think the blisters are from rubbing against the inside of the fin. I only get them if I don’t use the fins a lot and I don’t use my fins very much.

My friend Kainoa Downing spent several years in Tahiti about a decade ago, maybe a little longer now. He told me there were some unreal waves there. Way better than Chopes. There some rights that went on and on and would get bigger as the wave moved along the reef. We’re regular foot most of the time, so rights are more fun than lefts. He said that he was glad he did it when we were still under 40 because there are some waves that will kill you.
I’m going on my first surf trip off Oahu in 20 years. It’s only for a day, but I just want to get some waves and not get hurt or in trouble. Maybe I’ll run into some old friends, that would be priceless.
