Hi Taylor,
My triplanes developed first… and later on the finless kneeboards. In addition to flexible, hollow internal structures and PVC laminates/resin, I used various types of closed cell foam and elastic adhesives, similar to that which was originally used in Tom Morey`s “Boogie”.
Tom was always a great encouragement and very generous. He often sent me extra raw skins, blanks… even finished bodyboards.
Here’s a quote from Morey in an email to a friend of mine on Swizzle rail shape:
"I can’t stand either the soft trailing edges we used to useon Penetrators, nor the harder down rails used on most boards. Instead, in the rear I put the same kind of rails I’ve been using on boogie boards for the past 33 years. We call them ‘AFTERBURNERS’, because they give you far more gliding speed than the soft rails, and
far more speed control than the all hard down rails (which they do) but because they give you a very different, quite enjoyable acceleration out of turns, like you’d kicked on the afterburners of a F-16."
Anyone here used just this rail shape on a more conventional type board? Looking for any comments on performance, handling characteristics etc. Thanks for whatever you know…
Hey Delbert…
Going to be at Big Sur…???..
