Does anyone have any information on this shaper? He made this for me back in 1978. I’ve had many boards that have come and gone since, but none can compare to the ride of this one. I met him once when I picked up my board but never really new anything about him. Is he still around? Does he still shape? Who is he shaping for? I sure would like another board from him if he’s still around. I just can’t give it up. TIA Oscar
I belive he might still be in Encinitas or Carlsbad,Cal. That was the last I have heard. That was in the mid ‘90’s. Channin in Encinitas or the Longboard Grotto guys might know or maybe Mitchs’. He shapes a nice board. I saw a few of his shortboards in the late '80’s that looked as good as anything Rusty and his crew were doing at the time. He’s got the background, his roots go back to the "60’s. McDing
Jim Phillips told me he was still around Encinitas. He opened a lot of doors for me when I first moved to California in the early 70’s.He was shaping for Ed Wright at Sunset Surfboards. He was the King of Swamis.Last time I saw him was in the seventies when he was tying to get on the Pro golf tour.If anyone sees him tell him Brucker said hello. He designed the classic 9’3" Clark blank - the oldest longboard blank in the catalog. It’s still available.
Early this summer Sid was shaping out of Rusty Whitlocks surf shop in Carlsbad. I am sure if you called Rusty he would know how to reach him. Call RW Surfboards in Carlsbad at 760-729-2062, they should be able to set you up with him. Good Luck!
Sid is still in leucadia. Still shaping some boards. Not sure where he’s living. He took 10 years off and moved to palm springs to be a golfer. But we all know that you don’t get surfing out of your blood that easy! Sid used to shape the Fresh Pineapple boards way back when. He sold it too Bill Shrosbee years ago.
Bill shapes all the longboards for Joel Tudor surfboards now, but still makes some Fresh Pineapples.
Sid is flying under the radar…
