Tail Ding

My pretty 10ft longboard came flying off my friends crappy rack while driving on I-5. I got luck that the only damage was a tail ding. The ding has been pretty challenging for me to repair. I gave it one shot and it looks horrible. So I’m looking for advise on how to fix this right. The board has a diamond tail. The damage is on both the top and the bottom of one of the side points of the tail. I have cut, plugged and painted all of that area. The trouble I’m having is putting on the glass over this four sided corner. On the first attempt, the resin pooled under the glass on the bottom side. Also, the repair glass is build up higher than the rest of the board. Any suggestions on how to approach this repair so that it looks good? Jeff

Hot coat it and sand it down just below the level of the board then rehotcoat and resand. Hope this helps>>> Jeff

Kevin- Great graphics! No doubt you’ve seen the “Ding Repair Scriptures” or done a few dings. I see the makings of an ILLUSTRATED and INDEXED version of the archives here on Swaylock’s. No small task but what a killer knowledge base! Tom S.>>> Here’s an illustration of what’s going on… if its unclear let me know… > I know I could have choosen my colors better.
