I have a full proportion shortboard (6’8" x 19" x 2 5/8"), fairy full rails, with reasonably flatter rocker throughout, that I’m pretty happy with in small waves. My quest: if this board had more tail rocker, would it initiate turns a little qeasier and turn tighter? I want to keep the maximum straight-line speed, too. Thank you great site!
queasier or easier!!! I always feel queesy on the shortboards. Anyhoo, I think it might depend more on how you surf than actual amount of tail rocker. there rules of thumb that say more tail rocker means looser, easier to turn and whip around, but slower down the line speed. But you should look at how you surf and figure out if you could benefit from this setup. If yuo ride more from the backfoot with smooth wieght transition from front to back foot then maybe a scooch more tail rocker might suit you. Alos remmeber that the more you turn the more speed you lose, but also at the same time if your a skilled surfer, you can generate speed from those turns. Drew
Im new to this website. What are "fairy full rails"? What are "qeasier initiated turns"? Ive been searching the archives and have found nothing about these two terms. I called down to our local surf shop and when I mentioned Swaylocks a bunch of guys in the background started laughing. Some joker had me on the speakerphone. So what`s the deal?

This is a surf board information site. There are a lot of us out there that can’t smell very good, get off out hacks, we tri. Smell chez does not always work if it is a real world.
