why are most swallow tails on real fishes cut so far in to the tail of the board. is there a certain reason for them being so deep or what. how would you go about glassing a swallow tail. is it a lot different than a squash.
earl,
I’m not sure about the theory on why the crack is so deep. One idea I read somewhere(probably in the archives) is the board was designed to be a douple pin tail. So, a short wide-tailed board would hold on larger, steeper waves. One pin tail in the face at a time. I do know they are a blast to ride. Fast, down the line speed. Glassing is a bit more difficult, but not that big of a deal. You have an extra tail to glass and the inside of the crack. Mike
