Howzit fellow Swaylockians. My friend Tuna just sold me a 7’10" Noserider made by Hawaiian Pro Designs. It is a David Nuuhiwa noserider. Also has another label “K glass”. It has a foam T band and foeam tailblock. Pretty bad condition but I like the outline and shape.
Can anyone tell me the age of this??? I am thinking late 80’s or so?? Thanks in advance. Roger Brucker
I worked at DT’s shop on Cleveland in Oceanside for a few months in 1982. Donald was building Nuuhiwa NR’s during that time. Clark had stopped making colored HD foam by then, so the foam T-band and tail block where painted black.
I’m going with '83-'86 or somewhere in there. We were living in Oceanside from '80-'92 and flipping back through the boards I bought from Donald’s Cleveland St. shop/factory would have put that “gold label” logo somewhere in that time frame. Nice board Jim left in your care! Merry Christmas to all.
Thanx for the replies. The deal about how the Tband is painted makes sense. The deck is delaminated and the tband was stuck to the back of the delamed glass. I couldn’t figure that out. I wonder if the tailblock is also painted?? It is actually a very nice shape. It is only 7’10" so i dont know if it was for a small person or someone used it as a “funshape”. I think it would work great in mushy surf. Has a huge concave in the nose. I always felt that nose concaves were useless outside of looking good. Just my opinion worth about 25cen in todays market.
It was most likely ghost shaped by Jack Jensen or Jim Hovde. DT would inspect the shaped blank and then would finish it by shaping in the tear drop concave.
