My money says longboards rule. My pal says shorties. Another swears it`s sponges. Anybody know the real numbers? Long, mid, short boards and other alternative “things” in this big bad world of surfing?
Well, longboards usually sell for more $$$. The rest is just personal preference.
Thats not what I meant. How many of which type are sold in the world. My money`s on longboards outnumbering everything else.
Shortboards still out number in sales to Longboards worldwide. What you see at your beach doesnt represent the rest of the world. Besides, one kook on a longboard can seem like 5 kids on shortboards. Don’t get me wrong, I love longboarding, I just hate most Longboarders. A lot depends on demographics of your area, type of break you surf at, country, ect… For instance, if you go to Sano, Churches or Bolsa in SoCal, of course it will seem like more people longboard. But if you go to Salt Creek, Huntington Pier, Blacks or most other countries the opposite conclusion will be drawn. Yeah longboarding is popular in Japan, but not nearly as popular as shortboarding. Same thing in Australia, Europe and South America. Jono
