Tanner Prairie - 19 year old Shaper

Sorry if my reply seemd a little short and sharp, but my understanding is the general forum was to discuss design and manufacturing, and it's related history, not promote people or products.

So please don't take this the wrong way. There is a place for people and products in the Swaylocks mix, and maybe it's in the industry section, or maybe even a new section dealing with promoting people and products, and obviously short of the marketplace.

What if they are not actually in the industry and are uncomfortable with that, but their influence, talent or product are just as relevant to enhancing the present and future of surfboards, it's progression, and this site?

I appreciate Swaylocks overall as a 'Design Forum', as the title indicates. The rest are subtitles under the same roof.

Maybe so!

Tanner is now 20. Give him some slack. I'm doing some boards for David Nuuwiha (Fishes and Longboards).

David was by today and gave Tanner the seal of approval.

Glad to see you got him a good mask too. :-)

I love the way he hangs the planer on the wall…classic.

A few photos back

Yorky it’s pretty cool how you picked up on that!

Glad to see you got him a good mask too.

I use to shape without a mask sometime however it takes a few days to recover after. Everyone is in a mask  mode these days including myself.

We had a few friends in the Industry die from cancer related deaths recently?

Was it from making surfboards without protection?

Most likely!

dunno what its worth but at sacred craft he was shaping with my tools since i shaped just before him and he didn’t have any with him; i’d say thats a pretty big disadvantage, shaping in front of a crowd without your own tools.

he seemed like a nice guy, and obviously not too worried about what people think of his age and experience shaping, otherwise he’d be on here already!

respect!

Thanks for the postive energy!

It’s people like you who advance our craft!

When I was 19 I wanted to be a shaper too. Instead I found myself packing an M-16 in a country I didn't know shit about !!!

Tanner Praire just finished his 100th Board!

I was stoked he made a fin from a fin panel I made up last summer (Red, White, Blue).

Just having fun making boards is that so wrong?

Pretty distinctive board - I happened to see it out in the lineup yesterday at our local point break.  Not sure who was surfing it...The session was a free for all and there were a few points in time when it seemed like major ding repairs would be on the horizon for this log.

It was probably Tanner or his brother levi

Regardless he’s in a fifties time warp. His girl friend is not ugly either!

Board 130:

…did he glass it?
