Tape on Foam ... How long is too long?

Taped off a cutlap tonight (Thursday) but probably won’t have time to laminate until Sunday morning… Will this much time in between cause problems… bleeding, leaking, tape separation maybe?

Compressor blown & shop vac’d poly blank, 3M 233 tape. Will be a pigmented lam.

Howzit Bud, Seen them fall off over night especially in the areas where you stress the tape for curves. It’s just the nature of the beast and should check it when ever you can because it’s going to come off no matter what or hpw well you prep the foam. Best thing is to tape of just befor doing the lay up.Aloha,Kokua

Thanks as always, Kokua. I guess I kinda knew that would be the answer. Especially bummed because I laid down such a nice curve for once! Ah well, chalk it up for much needed practice. Good thoughts out to you and your speedy recovery.

Hey Bud,

If you have a curve you really like then flip the board so the tape doesn’t separate entirely. Bleeding probably would still be an issue, so I’d tape right next to your current line with 1/8" tape then use that as a guide to lay down some fresh tape for your cut lap. If that sounds too involved you could at least take an edge softened tongue depressor and go to town with some pressure on your current tape job.

I’ve seen the quality of your work on here and I imagine you’ll probably go the extra mile.

if you already cut the glass anddont wanttowastethe cut or tape off just runa razorblade or sir stickaround the tape puhing itdownand you should be good.

i do this if it sits a few hoursafter i prep up.
