template creation

Thanks, I found it. Its marketed under “high impact styrene”, in case anybody else was looking for it.

Kite, How much does it cost you for 48" x 96" ?

I found a place that wants $62 for a 1/8" thick sheet.

Sound right to you?

Thanks, tripper

$62… No way!!

I just finished a nice 5’6" kite-fish template , this stuff is super easy to work with…

I paid $20 including the 14% tax we Canadians have to shell out...

The stuff I buy is .030" or 30 mil thick., the stuff you must have priced is probably twice the thickness, and 3 times the price… Shop around, all you need is the 30 mil styrene, you cut the outline with scissors and finish sand the template down to the line using an 18" long sanding block c/w 60 grit sandpaper…

You should be paying under $20 for a 96"x48" sheet of high density styrene, no more////

Thanks for the reply. Funny thing is the website at the bottom of your message is the one I went to.

1 sheet of .125 (1/8") 48" x 96". or maybe it Canadian $ ?

Correction… Its a CA. company and when I asked for the thickness you said you used, it was certainly more reasonable. I ordered 4 sheets.

I have some templates that are similar that I got while working in Aus and they are 1/8" thick. That was what I was hoping for. Allan Byrne left me a couple of templates in the thinner stuff when he was here so I’m guessing thats what you are using. Thanks for your help, over and out, Tripper

Hey No problem…

The .030 is all you need, unless you’re really beating up on your tempates, they dont tear, sand reall well and are easy to roll up and store…
