Templates, Board Width, and Rails

I always make my templates exactly as wide as I want the board. I inevitably end up with a board that is narrower than I wanted. Easy solution is to draw the template bigger to allow for error, but I’d like some advice for avoiding this. I usually end up over working the rails and taking too much foam. What do you guys use for shaping your rails? I use what is known as a Fred from the Shaping 101 video, but when I made it, I couldn’t remember the angle. Does anyone remember? I know this is a general question, but can anyone give a quick and dirty on their process for shaping the rails once the rocker and foil has been established? Erik
