Texas get-together

There will be a Classic and unusual surfboard get-together at Surfside beach, Texas(A-holes specifically) on Saturday Oct. 30th. This will be a chance for those of you who are into older style surfboards to get together and talk about the boards, share them if you’d like, and possibly sell them if you have a board for sale.

The kind of boards I hope to see there are: classic and modern single fins, older style longboards(logs), traditional Steve Lis style fish, quad fins, 80’s twin fins, early thrusters, bonzers, and pretty much any off the wall, or vintage surfboard that you don’t ordinarily see around here. It’ll be like a surfing time-warp!

I am bringing a 6’6” Rusty single fin with channels, a Mandala ( www.mandalacustomshapes.com ) 5’7” twin keel fish, and a 1968 Oceanside 6’5” egg to show and share.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please post them here! I look forward to seeing all of the older boards here on the Gulf coast.-Garrett Crowell

Bump, for the few Texans on board.

Dammit, we need to do this in corpus! I have two bonzers I could bring.

Hey Shuwz, maybe next spring we could throw something togther for down there. Name the place and a date and I’ll try to make it down there.

That might work out for me, I’ve got a few to choose from.

“Toby” Rich Pavel vintage Fish

G&S stringerless Farrelly V-bottom

S/H 9’6" Hamilton Stylist II

and a few others if interested.

Good to see you guys…haven’t seen much from Texas on this forum. I surf regularly in surfside and will be there for sure.

Awesome!

Tomas, are you on the upper or lower coast? If you’re on the upper coast, it would be awesome to have you there, and even if you’re on the lower coast if you can make it up.

gmc,

I live on the island (Galveston) and have a friend in from Hawaii so we’ll try to make it over. Maybe I’ll bring one of my balsa boards and a 60s Duke Kahanamoku board. If the weather is perfect maybe we could come over in the woodie. By the way, I talked with James Fullbright today (owner of Surf Specialties) and he’s got the Quicksilver ship coming to the island this coming weekend, so you guys might want to come this way to check out the event.
