today , while taki8ng water photos , I was a little too close and in the way of Ross ['P-Co']'s flight path
copped the nose of his board nice and hard to my head .
like I say , thank goodness for helmets eh ?
If I had done the usual [shaved my head] and worn no helmet , and it had been a needle nosed thruster , like a lot of my mates ride , it would have been a much different [and more serious] outcome , I know .
So, any other water photogs out there ...give serious thought to wearing a helmet , eh ? Especially in fairly crowded lineups.
Even WITH the helmet on , I have still been a bit 'off balance' all day , so I will give it a rest tomorrow
The good news was / is ...
1. the run of swell and BEAUTIFUL conditions has continued ALL this week , and tomorrow looks like another 'groundhog day ' , too ...
2. I got some nice shots , prior to the collision .
3. Ross still had one layer of glass covering his nose rail lap , so was able to continue surfing !
I , however , only took three more waves photos , and went and sat on the beach for a while , prior to walking back home . [ A couple of the photos may end up on my "chip's picks" thread , for those interested ? ]
cheers !
