I too would like to thank Keith and his family for opening up their house and yard. Although i had to keep an eye on my little one, i was still able to pick up all kinds of tidbits and tips for both shaping from keith and mark and glassing from stingray and jay. Also thanks to bill as i had the chance to listen to a couple different conversations. Thanks to everyone who brought down some of their work for others to check out. Amazingly good time, wish i could have stayed through the glassing but someone was getting a little tires. Thanks to all.
I just want to add my thanks to Keith and his family for being such wonderful hosts - I can’t remember the last time 5 cute girls were willing to run and get me a beer anytime I wanted one!
Many thanks to Mark and Jay for their expertise, patience and for taking the time to explain what they were doing and why.
Personally, I learned so much on Saturday and I really feel grateful for the experience. I came with an open mind and a lot of questions and got a lot of answers. I even got to help Mark shape his fish - I’m dying to hear how it rides.
It was really great meeting everyone and I hope there are more events like this in the future. The photos are great Tim - be sure to post photos of your first board, I’m sure it will come out great.
And Mark, I’m still willing to be an apprentice - call or send me a PM.
Bob, aka PB-Bob
Hey EVERYBODY - glad you could make it, I’m almost done cleaning up (ha ha). luckily I had enough beer left over to see me through that phase…
Seems like we always pick hot days for these deals, doesn’t it? Well other than that one time it rained…
PS the surf picked up the very next day. Head high swell from Tahiti, yee haw!
See ya’ll next time.

Hey thanks Keith, it was really cool n gracious of you. Also everyone else that helped, Mark, Resin Head, . . . that covered some good tips on shaping. I’m new to surfing, and realized the other half of the equation is my equipment, and if I’m going to get better, might as well improve both sides and be balanced.
Watching Mark shape really drew some insights. I had the privilage of seeing another master at work, Greg L, and from those two really clears things up. Seeing it up front and doing it really helps. Jay doing the swirls and glassing really helped, show how doing lams, hotcoat … really, especially the technique of hard rails.
Thanks again for opening up your home, your family, and swaylocks community . . . also for the sureform blade.
