Thanks for the blank Shaun! I plan too keep the original shape but clean it up a little bit. and … SINGLE fin.
here’s the photos
i’ve got a close up of the air bubbles but i’ve just got to resize it.

**** !!!
I can’t BELIEVE how much that person WRECKED that board for you Shaun .
No WONDER you are getting a new blank , mate !
thanks Shaun for not ditching the blank …it has now become Josh’s “project” [ I can relate , BELIEVE me !]
Josh , take your time and do a good job on that eh ? [As I’m sure you will !] …how about with a ‘widowmaker’ plug option too, perhaps?
minimal shaping and sanding and it will still remain around 6’8 x 20 x probably 2 1/4- 2 3/8" , yes ?
…good on you for sticking to the original shape …should be nice for the size you’re getting now ?
Is the thickness from 4-14" up from the tail adequate for a 10" finbox , mate ? [Have you got callipers?]
Will you “set up shop” in Shaun’s shed , or does your dad have a ‘bay’ , Josh ?
…I was saying to dub , you could see if you can do “shaping stands” [with a drip tray ala ‘cleanlines’ here ?] for a school wodwork / ?metalwork? project , maybe ? …worth a try eh ?
despite the frankenstein foam attack appearance , you must be STOKED to have a “2nd hand” freebie blank to work with , yeah ?
…I look forward to seeing yours AND dub’s boards here , at some stage in the future !
cheers guys !
ben
I’ve got plenty of room to shape under my house. I thought you’d say widowmaker benny! I’ll check out the thickness for a finbox but if not i’ll send it to Tom to glass on a single fin. (he does a GREAT strong job!)
I am stoked indeed and i’m sure i can make it nice again. if i can clean up the bottom enough too i’ll just glass it clear which i imagine would look great.
stay tuned…
…is that a photo of the surface of the moon ?
no thats the deck, hehe
hahaha that shot makes it look so much worse (looks like something out of the horror movie THE BLOB’')
…well
I’ve been working very hard on it tonight! it’s comming up really nice. I’ve got ALL of that horror insulation stuff off and have started shaping the board more. the bottom is about 2 shades lighter too! its looking great and i’m having great fun!
the hardest bits so far would have been getting that stuff off and cleaning up the bits of rail that came off when the glass was stripped. other than that it has been fairly easy and extremly fun!
i love shaping.
thanks again for the blank Shaun!
…
ps. photo’s tommorow.
part of the resultant ‘soft deck’ malady
is due to the fact that the board was shaped thin
and not reinforced properly with glass.
your reshape venture is going to cross the line
into softer core foam even more than the original
pplease take care to make a strong deck standing area
to insure the longevity of your creative effort.
to ignore this structural reality will accelerate the return of
los spongie deck.
An anal
engineer might consider hi density deck implants
under your deck grip areas to absorb those
high altitude drops and stratospheric floaters
…ambrose…
not to mention them stomping cut bax
awsome mate you should see my board at the moment im just about to post the latest pics up

Thanks Ambrose!
I’m definatly being carefull with the thinning. the foam on the surface is still a good moderate density, nice and hard. I should clarify i wasn’t actually shaving the blank foam down but rather the “spray foam” that was added to the deck. structually the board is still fine.
Cheers!
Updates:
Le’ Foil
Le’ Bottom
Le’ deck
Big improvement already, even if i say so myself. haha.
Today I put the finished touches on the shape. i actaully made a johnny tail though. haha, its a mellow diamond tail.
the final dims are still being confirmed but around about 6’3" 19" 2 3/8". I’ve sprayed most of the bottom and tommorow i will by more paint. finish the bottom/rails and do the deck. Its a mid light sky blue like you’d see on an original kombi.
pictures tommorow after i finish.
after that i save the $ to glass and finbox it and then its all surfin, surfin, surfin for this board.
speaking of which…
Forgot to add. Concave: Spiral Vee
Rails: mid low downrails with a tucked under edge. not old style downers.
cheers~!
The blank is now sprayed and ready for glassing.
The deck
the bottom
the photo’s don’t show you how nice it really looks.

Thanks Mate!

Cheers Beerfan!
