THE balsa *PIC*

Feast your eyes on the prize. It’s shaped but not glassed just yet. Who is that in the last picture? Could it be our hero? Yes indeed it’s Mr. Phillips. I don’t think that I’ve ever known of a moniker more appropriate - Jim is truly “The Genius.” Remember he mentioned the board is 10’4" and only 12lbs? Well when I saw it about two weeks ago Jim put it on the racks for me to handle. I reached across the board, hand on each rail, widened my stance and bent my knees to ensure the proper form (when lifting a heavy object) and I about tossed the board over my head - the dang thing is truly 12 lbs. It was like grabbing, what you think is a semi-full milk jug out of the fridge and then almost throwing it across the kitchen because you couldn’t see that someone put it back with only two drops. It will receive a glass on G&S Classic 10" wood beauty by Bhane. Wow. Wow. Wow. Glass. Wax. Trunks. Warm summer day at San O.

Really gorgeous…the first ding’s sure gonna hurt!

what weight of glass is going on it?

nice!!! and the pics look really natural and gnarley!! great job dj

Chris, you’re cruel. But very true. Hopefully I’ll be able to let you take her for a ride, before dings, sometime at Linda Mar. Keith, it’s getting a single 6 bottom with a 6+4 deck. The board will need two cheater coats to help the glass bond. All that and the actual glassing will add to the weight. Andrew

I have a balsa board being glassed at Moonlight and that’s what I chose too (6 oz bottom, 6+4 deck). Reassuring to hear that. Mine (9’6") came out at 19 lbs, not chambered (and not glassed yet.) It would be fun to get together and see each other’s boards when they are done…

I’d love to see it in the water. I’ll trade you a ride on the kookbox I’m building, if I ever finish it.

Surfore: The lines certainly come together to create a beautiful form-surf art. Thanks for posting the pics. Patrick
