I've had discussions with several men who were out with Simmons that day. Carl Knox went out with him that morning at first light. He described the waves as huge. Well over fifteen feet. He, and others, did not have any idea what became of the board. One person has given me a ''lead'' as to the possible path the board MAY have taken. I'll be following up on it, and let the forum members know if I have any success. I have my own ''suspicion'' as to what became of the board. I hope to find the answer to the mystery.
awesome! hope you solve the case...
Now that sounds like a fun project. I hope you find it. Probably stashed in somebodys’s collection and they want it to stay private. I think it would be almost priceless if it was proved to be the real thing. There is a guy here in Savannah who is in his eighties and retired from the Merchant Marine. He used to work in the Pacific and has two old Ancient Wood boards he got in Hawaii back in the 1940’s. I have tried to convince him they need to go back to Hawaii but he is not ready to let them go. Too many memories.
Wonder if it was like this one?
