hi guys !
Well, following on from this thread ,

Mark , [and anyone else who 'may' be interested ?] ...
I took THIS setup out , a few days back [they are the 'offcuts' keels , from the BIG keel [R.I.P.] fin panel, Mark !]
surf...waist to chest high. Early morning. GLASSY peaks , with some niiice shape , for a change ?!
marty , a neighbour richo , and myself were the only three out , for the first 90 minutes . fun fun fun !
Straight off the bat , caught a really nice left and instead of pigdogging it , managed to get HEAPS of speed to do three fast [rollercoaster style] off the lips [didn't want to blow a nice wave by trying to belt the first turn too hard and spinning out , or flying off the back , and wasting a lined up wall] . I think it was the first time Marty had ever seen me go that fast , he looked VERY surprised ! heehee. [ I surprised myself , too , I MUST say ! ]
Caught quite a few racey little rights , and the speed off the bottom certainly felt great , as did the squirt [techy-fin-guy-speak] , and hold. Even managed to do one half decent cutback , for a change ! [no "two turns and a wipeout" THIS morning , Mark ...wish you coulda been here with us , mate ?!] It will be interesting to ride this WITHOUT the li'l uncanted 'pseudo bonzer mini runners' at some stage , too.
I really like the feel of these thinner keels !
Compared with the thicker kevlar ones I made , they feel a bit more flexy , a bit looser , a bit more responsive ! They are smaller than the kevlars, yet, with the little front fins combining with them , I guess there is enough base and depth in the four fins , to hold in nicely.
Caught a truckload of waves in the 2 1/2 hours I was out there , and went home surfed out , and ....STOKED !! ( And it was only 8.45am when I got home...)
I'm hoping that , on Friday , with a dropping swell and offshores forecast , that I will get another chance to surf these soon.
....to be continued ....
cheers !
