Monday [three days ago , here in west oz] , Karl [pictured] had a birthday surf [54] with marty and I for three hours , in waves a couple of foot bigger than this . North west swell, easterly winds [ALL day !] and 100 metre rides ...a RARITY here , to say the least . His boss let him have the day off , he had a few beers that evening , then [apparently] his wife gave him a ...er..."special treat" [I didn't ask] . Seems like THAT will be a birthday he will remember for a LONG time to come eh ?!

I NEVER thought I'd get a shot like this ...
I remember a shot , in a surf mag, YEARS ago [before photoshop , thankfully !] of , from memory , a pipe wave , with a hawaiian warrior's head in the pitching lip ...anyone else have / remember that shot ?! It was just AMAZING !!
