the end of compsand ?

Just heard that Silly, Paul Cannon has retired from the internet.

Does this spell the end for composite construction ? Who will pick up the batten or has it become a poison chalice ?

Cheers

edit- left out the comma.

maybe he should or is going to spend more time making them, than writing stuff online…

Probably going to be less stressed and catch more waves…sounds good to me!

Think it takes a lot more time and effort than many of us can imagine, hope he takes a well earned break!! And scores some good waves!!!

Don’t worry, we’re not fading away…

Paul is obviously the most vocal of the bunch - I think you’ll all agree it’s his forte!

A lot more goes on behind the scenes though, we all have our part to play.

For example, Doug has been toiling away in webdesign land and is hoping to have the new site rolled out soonish…

Myself, i’m a garage freak, I can’t stop mixing up little batches of resin and lamming bit of glass to various things I find lying around. I’m trying to get some out of the carpet right now, oops.

And Huie has a big cauldron that he is mixing magic potion in…

Anyway, direct any CompSand related matters to me!

Kit

I figure this might be a good time to point out that keeping a site running like Compsand.com (or Swaylocks) takes $$$ and time on the part of the website manager.

I think if you head on over to Compsand.com you can find directions on kicking in to help on the operating costs.

There is a little “button” at the bottom of the page on this site that reads “Keep Swaylocks alive.”

It never hurts to show a little appreciation for those who bust their asses so we can all have a little fun.

Gotta take this opportunity to give Paul some big props for all he’s done for compsand construction and compsand the website!

Pretty awesome how we’ve got a whole site dedicated to backyard builders and compsand design.

While it’s been the work of many, Paul definitely stands out as a leader of the charge.

As Dave says, its a helluva lot of work, just look at the volume of replys that have been made, not to mention PM’s.

Pauls just snaring his share of waves and cooking up some things in the shaping bay, new stuff on the boil, rather than dealing with half baked surf industry politics in cyberland.

Good to hear your kicking on Kit.

Ready for the challenge ? From what I gathered Paul was pretty stressed out and that’s the thing with the net, it takes on a life of it’s own and you can’t control everything.

To Paul- Go surfing !

Cheers

he’ll be back…they always come back.

Paul and I may not agree on everything but he’s done great work as have many over at compsand.com. Compsand will continue … I’m sure. It’s the future.

If your site closes down there is a little site called swaylocks. You may have heard about it.

I think you meant to say that compsand.com might be closing down and not compsand boards right? If the latter is correct the stop production letters have yet to have been received by the shapers out there.

I forget who you all decided the Father of compsand was, but occasionally one of his children leave the family business. When the prodigal son returns, the pupe dust and polyester resin will be washed off and he will be greeted with a ring and a robe. There will be a party and the sons who stayed true will complain until the thread is locked.

surftech 25% off internet sales. Why wait for a compsand , get an original epoxy composite today!

No, not the end of compsand.com Paul is just taking a little “Paul time” away from virtual reality and spending it doing the important things in life.

Compsand.com will carry on without him, and will be waiting when he’s all rested up.

No worries.

so everything is so serious i cant have a joke?

From Compsand.com:

Question:

Quote:

What is involved in keeping the site running?

If it’s something I can do, then i’ll put my hand up

Answer:

Quote:

you got the job

you basically have to promote the site and welcome newbies and encourage them to post

forward any board enquiries to respective countries members.

post on swaylocks and surfermag to promote the site, whilst aligning yourself with certain players and burning bridges with others.

Cheers Paul J

Thus is the harsh reality of the surf industry…

Some people are stoked with what we are doing for backyard builders, so we want to be involved with them, of course.

Others want to pull us down, or view us as a threat to their corporate empires - thus the need to distance ourselves from them… necessary burning of bridges. Everyone’s got an agenda.

Roy was probably annoyed that Paul Cannon got his thread locked, I bet he’s charged him with going to Hawaii and taking off deep at pipe on his board, to make up for it…

That’ll get the Compsand hitrate up… LOL

Hands up who’d like to see Roys board and the Cannon-meister go over the falls at the same time?

Yeah, I thought so, everyone just wants to see controversy  hahahahaha
