Jim flew me in to Rhode Island when the factory was backed up with orders. I was a novice shaper. He put me on a crash course and I learned to shape boards that summer. it was a big operation. We even glued up blanks and milled them with a “shaping machine” the Jim made. I loved the waves in Rhode Island. Drivers were vicious though.
I can remember when Jim and I would bum money from out parents and run to the magazine stand to buy the latest surf mags with our hearts pounding. Things have sure changed.
