it’s five minutes , taken from the beginning of the film , McTavish and Chris Brock and George Greenough [filming] at a place “proneman” would know , from his recent travels…
for anyone interested in the period when boards went from 10’ mals to as small as 5’6 [in this movie] almost overnight … try to get yourselves a copy of this video !
It shows perfect empty queensland and new south wales point breaks , and george greenough doing figure eight roundhouses on his 4’11 spoon kneeboard , while others were going straight across the wave on logs .
“the beginning of top to bottom surfing” , is one of the blurbs on the cover .
And , of course , George Greenough’s in the tube photgraphy doesn’t go astray , either .
This movie pre-dated “Crystal Voyager” by four years , and “Morning Of The Earth” by about 5 years.
cheers !

to me , as a movie showing the change of surfboard designs , and the beginning of more vertical surfing , this movie is groundbreaking on many levels …[and not a word spoken throughout it makes a nice change , too !]
I’ve got it. The board progression was interesting. But, I found myself imagining what it must have been like to surf those points with just a couple of friends. Good music, too. mike
I saw a movie about the making of Dolphin Glide and i was astounded by the speed George was going on his mat, and he was just riding unbroken swell amazing.
And / or other movies featuring George Greenough’s water footage , ‘spoon’ , and mat riding …
and "children of the sun "
“crystal voyager”
“fantasea”
anyone here seen George’s latest , “dolphin glide” ???
cheers
ben
[he also did the water footage in the 1977 movie “big wednesday” , by the way .]
