THE MEADOW

I was at the Sacred Craft in Del Mar a few weeks back and came across a booth called the Meadow. I guess its C.J Nelson and Nick Palandrani with there 3 board brands, Source, Cityfog and Palandrani signatures. I was blown away! They had the nicest booth and boards by a mile!!! I am friends with C.J from Malibu and am stoked to see the stellar lines of boards Nick and He are making. After talking with C.J I guess they have a fin company, a wetsuit line, Cityfog clothing and are opening a  store up in Santa Cruz. Nick told me that all the boards were 100% hand made and designed by C.J and himself, Nick doing all the shaping and C.J doing all the color and design. I orderd a board at Sacred Craft and im selling my current quiver to replace it with more…Here are some photos I found on their blog theMeadowinc.com

Take out an ad in Surfer, or T S J.     Not here.

...and I just found this really great dating website where wealthy single women are looking for surfer type companions, and....

hahaaha

OK, if you're the real deal, tell us all about this relative of the fat penguin (this is a surfboard design forum after all):

better pic of the wing

fun stuff for sure , everything looked perfect .

Burtlemann used to make those, he called it a reverse sting. There’s a whole video of Larry talking about shaping and the reverse sting at his old shop before it was torn down. If I can find the video I will post. Neat to see old ideas resurface and re-applied to come up with something new. Pretty unique looking board by Nick and CJ, curious as to how it rides.

Nick Palandrani's workmanship is top notch.  He was listed on my original "Wish List" for a good reason.

I kind of like the reverse wing concept.  I didn't know Bertleman had done it early on.

Here is a version of reverse wing I did awhile back...  http://www.quivermag.com/node/720

Mine was no where near the finish quality of Palandrani's.  I couldn't wait to get it in the water.  It ended up stripped down, restringered with a 1" wide chambered Redwood between the 1/8" cedar and fitted with a pivoting single fin from Blakestah.  I snapped it at Sand Dollar Beach during one of the Big Sur campouts.

Wasn’t there a design called the Sidewinder like that in the 60’s? I recall it but can’t find a picture. -C

Hi Carl -

Yes, there was a "Holmsey"  label that did them...    http://www2.swaylocks.com/node/1029953

May be mistaken but I think that same sort o' shape was also marketed as a Squid Tail years ago .........

To me it looks to me like a relative of the fat penguin.  BTW, did anyone get the commentary from the builder on this thing?  Curious to hear what his take on it is - the reasons, benefits, etc. of the "wings".

My guess is it’s to aid in nose riding – hold the tail down, etc.  CJ absolutely lives on the nose.
