Not a video game discussion group. The just use the platform. If you were on the Surfer Magazine Discussion Forum for the last 15 years, there were a whole host of characters. Most were very knowledgeable about surfboards, not so much from the builders stand point, but from the riders stand point. Some professionals were frequent users of the design forum, notably Jon Pyzel.
I think the reason it got taken down was the politics forum got a little heated. At first they just closed that section, but the politics just moved over to the general discussion forum under the guise of red longboards and blue longboards. Theh they just shut it down.
I think the discord erBB group is upt to 300 members.

I agree with 103; Politics on a surf or surfboard forum is a killer. “That’s what moderators are for”. Moderators can’t police it ALL. A lot slips by. A forum eventually spirals downward. A Forum can descend into a personalized vendetta. Moderators are not always impartial. Over time a forum becomes a bit of a club. If you don’t like it don’t read it.

Skipaccoumt you are a great example of what can go wrong with a forum. Where is a moderator when you need one. On the old Sways you would have been called out as a TROLL after your first post.

- My statement above is not meant as an attack on you. On the contrary I agree with you. My comments were meant as a comment on forums in general.
What I liked about the old erBB was, as you call it, the club. You knew certain people’s personalities (at least their online ones), their qualifications (to some degree) and in some cases their politics. It was definitely NOT a board builder’s forum. Only a few people there made boards. I went there to “talk story,” listen to the banter, and, yes, to expose myself to all colors of the political spectrum. In that respect it took me out of my curated, algorythmed, media bubble.
I also frequent a Mercedes Sprinter Forum. There is a politics section there too. It is labelled, “The Danger Zone” and says in big red font- “Don’t come in here if you can’t take it. I warned you.”
the mods here used to be members at the erbb. They wish it would come back as this forum is a snoozefest.
A good reason for you to stop hawking (aka spamming) here for the Magazine Surfer forum.
Compared to the past, the tone and content at this new iteration of Sways has become civil, useful and tolerant — a solid DIY surfboard designers/builders community.
Continue to escalate the trolling or add flaming, this thread can vanish.

I’ve found this Forum great, people helping others no matter your level of experience. It’s very supportive with no BS. If trash talk and political rants are your thing it would appear there are a plethora of options on the internet. Keep Sways a sanctuary from that, if that’s boring …..great! Bring on the snoozefest!!!

Regardless of the users, the formatting of this and many forums is terrible. Reddit, FB, Discord, etc all suck. Can you even post a rumble video here? I think not.
