the new surfers journal.

hands down the absolute best surfers journal, or magazine, that i have ever read. i have been reading surfers journal for a few years now, and i love most of the issues, but this one surpasses all of them. every story is incredibly written. all of the stories are really good.

Volume 15 Number 1 - Early Spring 2006- thats the one.

I GOT it !!!

STOKED !!

Mickey Munoz ,

Japan,

Hollow wooden surfboards …

…mate , I can see why this publication is the best surf mag I have ever seen !!

SOOOO thankful to my mate in N.S.W. [New South Wales , Australia] getting me a subscription …

thanks HEAPS , Rosco !!

I look forward to future issues (and drool over the list of past issues we can’t get . )

ben

I concur, I saw the cover and page 112-113, then went to pay for it.

Even the ad links are good check out the Campo Perfecto video http://www.patagonia.com/bendtobaja/index2.shtml

only problem is that it would burn a hole in my wallet, I say “would” cause I have never had the nerve to pay the price! I live in Denmark where it is impossible to get the mag but I’m frequently in the uk where the cost is 10 pound, about 18$

Quote:

Mickey Munoz ,

Notice how that Munoz article had very little to do with riding waves, yet somehow everything to do with “surfing”?

The other morning the waves were good shaped but really microscopic and I was about to turn around and go home. Then I thought about Mickey Munoz’ quote towards the end of the article-

“The high is so high that just a single good turn is worth the downside.”

I figured I could get in at least one good turn and paddled out. I didn’t get in a good turn but managed to get slotted on a couple and it was worth getting wet.

Thanks Mickey!

Uff da!

I’ll trade for your 1918 Bing and Grondahl Christmas plate

    or this gem

farvel så længe

The Surfers Journal is always worth the wait but in my opinion the last few issues have been a little light on for content. I’ve been a subscriber from the start and I still regularly go back and re read old issues. I love the history, travel and profiles but to me the latest couple of issues just aren’t as good. It’s still streets ahead of anything else though and I always get excited when the new issue turns up in my mail box.

(Opinions are like butt holes, everybody’s got one!)

Enjoy the glide.

PS. Hey Ben finished the egg and the fish!!(sounds like dinner!) Will post pics soon. New owner very happy.

I’m not too sure that would make for a fair trade, but if I had those two in my posession I probably would not be complaining!

Du lyder jo naesten dansk!

I feel kind of guilty looking at them, about a week after Clark foam shut down i got a card that said that Clark foam had given me a subscription to the Surfer’s Journal, so i got that one and it was very impressive, but i feel kinda funny looking at it, silly huh…danny

I just did an audit on my S. J. collection and found I am missing 5. Any body got extras or know best way to find the following.

Volume 1 Missing #1,2+3

Volume 2 Missing #1

Volune 3 Missing #1

I have all the rest and in some cases have doubles of a few issues. The ones missing are out of print except in the hardbound yearly books.

Thanks in advance,

Roger

Do have a full set, no extras. If you find vol. 1-#1,#2 or #3, you’re stoked. 1-1 is extremely rare and valuable. Who would a thought?

As far as the price of the new ones, it’s inexpensive if you don’t buy the “other guys.”

I lived in Denmark for awhile - nice place you’ve got there!

I enjoyed this issue because my friend Debra McQueen got her sail/surf trip article published and Mark Massara got featured.

If there is anyone connected in any way to the Surfer’s Journal, here is my plea:

Could you hire a real translator for the French edition? Such a great publication being wasted by some ignorant is a shame.

(Is the guy actually paid for doing this? No kidding? I know a few guys that could do with the check and who would pull out quality texts to complement those quality pictures… Or am I the only one to complain and all the others just look at the pictures? Maybe…)

You’re not the only one. The french translation is of very poor quality.
