This winter has been painful here in north O.C.It has been day after day of high tide monings, and no swell. Is anybody else out there fealing my pain? What do you guys do when there’s no surf?
Hey Rob - Isn’t that that lake out by Morreno Vally??? Ha! I’ve been out of the water going on a month with a “F’ed” up inner ear/head infection… I break out into a sweet changing guitar strings… ugh…
So, what I do is keep the stoke fires stoked by ordering some shaping supplies from you… Ha! Seriously, and you shipped it so fast I couldn’t get the stuff in that I forgot to order… Next time! Not to mention good prices… {Not a solicited endorsement - I just love to give props for good treatment.}
Looks like you couldn’t even get some wind stuff going… (I won’t tell you why being out of the water has been extra painful up here… Ugh)
Thanks for the props Taylor. Now if you can just send some waves my way I’ll be set.
ride horses and mules in the backcountry…no crowds, peaceful and beautiful. trout in the stream…hotsprings and swimming holes…
Hey rob
seal beach is a bad place to start when its small
you should know better , LOL
but when its good its really good !!!
sorry I havent been in the shop ,DRAMA, too much
Paddleboard and skateboarding keep me semi-sane. That picture looks like Lake Tahoe.
I’ve shaped 2 boards and glassed one of them myself (2nd glass job). The other was for a friend, so it’s being done right @ the factory. Other than that, when it’s flat in the winter and we’ve had some weather like as of recent, head up to one of the local resorts and carve up the mountain.
And yes, I completely agree these high tide mornings are KILLING ME!
Hey Matt, I love the idea of no crowds. The rest of it sounds pretty cool to.
Hey Rob!
I am officially out for a month.
Got a cast on my arm because of torn tendons and fluid in the elbow.
Sorry…but I am kinda taking comfort in the fact that I’m not missing anything!
I feel your pain…but in a completely selfish way…I don’t feel bad for you. LOL
Does that make me a bad person? LOL
Thanks for helping me feel a little less sorry for myself.
Mahalo
Hey Todd, that’s a bummer about the cast. You’re definately not missing anything though.
Thanks Rob.
Got some funny pics of me drawing a lapline with my cast hand last night.
Hey, nothing more stable than a fully casted arm. Just put the lapline tool in my hand and WHALA! A perfectly straight lapline!
Always try to find the silver lining…right?
Mahalo
if you ever get time get in touch with me and we can take you and friends on a ride into the sespe wilderness…it is quite awesome! go to lospadresoutfitters.com , then pack trips, then click on the video.pretty fun stuff!
That sounds cool.My dad used to tell me about bacpacking there in the 70’s, he said it was pretty awesome.
one month? psh, try from december 28 until last thursday. Welcome to the world of the east coast. When it is flat I skate and row.
“ride horses and mules in the backcountry…no crowds, peaceful and beautiful. trout in the stream…hotsprings and swimming holes…”
+1 for me (except I’m on foot). Winter and Spring is prime time for the local backcountry if the waves aren’t cooperating. Summertime flatness = paddleboard workout time for Catalina.
Here’s a recent backcountry trip.
beautiful Nick!
Howzit Todd, That would be a good pic and I should take one of me pouring coffee in the morning a couple of beers at night down my feeding tube. Told one of my room mates who does surf videos that we should go to a bar and have him video me doing it and then send it to one of those funniest video TV shows. Who knows we might win some $.Aloha,Kokua
Now THAT would be truly funny!
Or replace the IV bag with a 40oz!
I bet you would get the grand prize on one of those!
I’m glad you are feeling better. I have been sending you all the good thoughts I can ever since you went in.
Good to have you back around.
You are certainly an example of the ALOHA spirit my friend.
Mahalo
not looking for a pity party or anything but i have to chime in here.you guys have no idea what the no surf blues are until you spend a winter living in maine.i would not recommend it to anyone who considers himself any kind of surfer or board builder, infact its been so long and far and few between i am pretty sure i forgot how to surf and sometimes wonder if i ever DID know how at all.
