First, take your all-time favorite board and very carefully saw it in half, widthwise. After that, get your immunization, purchase your passport, travel tickets, etc. then write back for further instructions. Ask for Herb or Coral.

has anyone tooled with the idea of making a Pope Bisect board for > themselves? i am very interested in making my own travel board. I did one for myself a few years ago shaped the blank & had it glassed with the bisect hardware. It took six months to get it. My kid took it to the Islans once .I have never ridden it. You can contact Pope & the will set you up. You see used ones in surf shops once in a while.
Yeah…I’d like to find out if they sell the hardware for it …or do you have to go through them???
anyone???
I contacted Bisect via email awhile back…chatted with Thane I think…at that time (about a year ago I guess) he was very reluctant to sell all of the components to me so that I could do up a board for myself. Usually you only install the latch boxes prior to glassing, then when the glass work is done, you ship it off to Bisect and they cut it in half and install the plates, pipe, etc. Unfortunately, I live in Canada and the cost of shipping one of my boards there and back was very prohibitive…especially when you add it on top of what Bisect was going to charge for the proceedure. Don’t get me wrong…it’s a lot of delicate, precise work that they do to get things just right, so they are justified in what they charge…it’s just my pocketbook can’t take a hit like that! I tried to get them to see my side of things, but I think the were afraid of someone doing a sub-par install of their product. If the person buying the parts does a poor job on the install, then it reflects bad on Bisect…so I completely see their side of it. I am in the process of ordering another system that allows you to have a two-piece board. It’s called SplitBits, out of Australia. I’ve emailled the designer and it sounds good. You can apparently install the system into finished boards, but I was told that installation during board construction results in the strongest results. I will hopefully order things in the next few weeks and can keep anyone interested updated on the results and offer my humble opinion on the system. Derek
