The Positive Energy…
My good friend passed away. I did every thing I could to contact every single person possible before it got posted on the internet. Phone calls,e-mails, drive buys…Looking for guys down at the beach, PM’s to friends in Auz. The trip to Moonlight was a tough one. The Positive Energy was there. Everyone I talked to and everywhere I went someone had something positive to say. I was the first person to reply to Yeahguy65 on the first post about The Sacred Craft Expo. I started to say some smart ass things. Before posting I got some Positive Energy and just said that there was a conflict of dates. Nothing more. I’m not too happy with some of the bad things that have been said…
So…Back to Positive things…LoxBox and Byron have smoothed things out…Peter from Moonlight told me that he has been getting E-mails from all over the world offering concern and condolences for our fallen friend. There’s so much good out there. Be positive ,seek out positive energy. Go surfing. Get stoked. Go to the Expo. Go to Big Sur. Do the anything but three thing ,Plan an event!

yay Ray! I’m with you. I’m going to help a guy make his first surfboard this weekend… he’s stoked. I’m making a custom board for a guy who’s never had one… he’s stoked.
My new fish is ready to glass… I’m stoked.

We’re having a shaping session, me and a friend are helping three other guys/gals from the surf club make their first boards. 1 or 2 weekends, an old barn, 5 people, 5 blanks, 43 meters of glass, and a whole lot of resin, can’t wait.
Gonna be a whole barn full of stoke.
At the moment we’ve got everyone making shaping stands and templates.
Yah Ray, thanks for the words, the point is well taken. There are difficult issues facing us surfboard builders. With dialog and positive attitude we should be able to move forward in a direction that can be beneficial to all.

kudos, keith! bobby from ventura (poser516) has had me on speed dial when glassing his last board. and i’ve been helping some guy from jersey via email who found me through sways make his first 4 boards (yes…a first timer doing 4 boards at once). just got done lam’ing them all last night, and he’s waaayyyy stoked. we must’ve shot 200 emails back and forth…but the boards look good. they may all be firsts…but this guy is a craftsman! i love teaching people to make boards…no better way to spend a day (when the surf is flat).
Thanks Ray and all. Its good to keep it positive and live life stoked (or stocked as -ER says).
Yeah I finally put the final hot on the first one . . . Just needs final sanding and touch up. will post later about it.
strange, I got more stoke out of that board than the past 4 years of work work.

Two unfinished blanks on the wall belong to a guy I met through Swaylocks. He is a good glasser and shaper but doesn’t have a place to work right now. He has helped me , I have helped him. Positive Energy…Swaylocks is awesome!
Went to See Tomatdaum last week and had a great convo…heck of a great guy ! Tom intro-ed me to Kasey Curtis.
Then went to Basham’s and bought a couple gals of lam and a whole s@#t load of glass !
Talked with Brad B. and Herbie F. for a few…Chuck the counter man was very polite and friendly…nice man!
Everyone got to meet King Koa the Barbarian dog.
BTW…Waiting on hold : another Pyrenese, a 3 mo. old Female…
…I gotta stay away from the dog pound !!!lol…Herb

I had my dog with me and at 7mo.s old and maybe 60lbs. Koa’s one heck of a powerhouse.He took most of my concentrated effort…everything else is basically a blurrr…Funny ,I use to pay good money… and went thru alot of hassle to get that way…LOL !!!
I don’t think Brad would have been to keen on me carting a baby-huey mutt thru his establishment…I’m probably cuttin’ thru your way again ,next week.I give you a head’s up before I invade.

Hey Stingray. Love to see some pics of that fish when it’s done. What are you doing for fins? Let me know if you need some wood. A friend and i are milling some sheets out of scraps he got from a guitar company. We should have extra. PM me if you want a couple sheets. I’m no expert on wood but what I saw looked like mahogany.

ben was in my thoughts today as i took photos of a stoked pascal / ‘popeye’ on his new thruster.
And last week i got back in the water and caught a few for ben on my quad fish and as a bonzer3 setuup too.
he will not be forgotten …the shipman spirit of stoke and creativity lives on !

Well this is off topic, but on the subject of Billy Zoom; the X movie “Unheard Music” screened last weekend at the Silver Lake Film Festival, it’s available at Lou’s Records in Encinitas. It profiles Billy, John, Excene, and DJ at their creative best. If you get one of Billy’s re-done amps, becareful when you plug it in, they’ll blow your drums!

Hey Stinkbug ,I’m interested in wood scraps for fins. I bought cheap fiberglass/glass on keels from Mitch’s for this board. I pulled a backyarder and ended up with plenty of resin and not enough hardner (RR epoxy)…Duh…I completed lam and hot coat so that the board can cure until I get more resin/hardener…
Can’t make the Anything But Three , too bad, family stuff going on that weekend…
