The Proneman Flies

To my eye, the Proneman was was the standout surfer in the water today at Malibu. Of all the folks out there, he was by far the fastest, and from the vantage of point of the highway, the most distinctive. All of this riding prone on a 10’4" Simmons Hull reproduction by Paul Gross. It was a pleasure to see him luge at top speed around and beneath the most critical sections of the wave, on a distinctive board in a distinctive way. Form and function all the way.

“10’4 Simmons Hull”…do photos exist of this board? Thanks!

Dubstar-- is that a malcom bonzer ??

Hi Ted, Yes, it’s an egg…photos on the site. I didn’t mean to post it, it’s a left-over link from the bonzer post below. I’d like one like that! http://www.swaylocks.com/resources/Detailed/513.html

Gross ten foot four. Belly boarding no less. What a blessing Bob Simmons never lived to see the horror. Rolling over in his grave.

Again! Sorry about the pic…

Some people are physically and/or mentally challenged. They cant surf the right way. The disabled have just as much right to surf as you do. Back off and mind your own business.

PC you should have just stated that the proneman was disabled, then the other guy wouldnt have thought it strange that he had to prone it, he wouldnt have payed him out. Most people would be wondering why a guy was proning out full waves on a 10’4’. Just let him know next time in a nice way rather than being aggressive.

Mental! Roger

Hey Proneman - No worrys about the flys above, we all love you.

proneman can stand up surf and rip just as well as he can proned out-it’s all about the feeling. a whole new sensation when proned and flying down the line.ya all ought to try it sometime!!As for pics, check the photo archives…

is standing up a fixation of ego centric meglomaniacs?most stand up surfing looks best in still photos none of the still photos reveal the jerkey transitions. I was always shocked to see my still photo heros in real life they were never as smoothe as I imagined them…carlos told me that old old like old contests were combatative …and laying down was as good as standing up… dave still remembers the wave he got on "CHUCK YARA MARU’’ from way outside all the way…prone 12’ board 12’ wave 1/8- 1/4 mile…what wave will you remember?..ambrose …the one you made to the end?

I think proneman needs to get on 5’ish bellyboard instead of terrorizing the lineup on his belly. I have never seen the man, but somehow I am equating this kind of stunt with kayaks in the linup.

Belly ride on a kayak and you can call it a paipo.

is standing up a fixation of ego centric meglomaniacs? Marketing wankers are convincing people that standing up on a board makes them just like Jesus, walking on water. Unfortunately for those so afflicted, most have such short attention spans they never read The Book, or will try The Current Movie as it has few explosions and almost no car chases. Always look on the bright side of life, friends. Nels

prim you aint seen him because he has attained invisibility…the guy riding prone can take off on the wave of the set that all the heads up guys dont know exist…and ride all the way through without disturbing the Me Too guys ,the Watch This guys ,or the where the flop am i guys. Not to mention the Sponsored internationally famous tatoo schills on photo shoots…as far a Kajak annogies nice try butt… prone is a considerably higher form on the life span evolutionary scale akin to homus stratopherus eclipsi eye… the bones of which will be found in a pyramid at point conception in the year 2517 after the recolonization of terra…they will also find Snodgrass in a hermeticly sealed cryogenic unit ready for reanimation…ambrose …just trying to help you in a period of vacuous comprehension

Ambrose, that’s my take exactly! [smile] Well, fractally exactly anyway. Carry on…
