Anyone seen this thing before?

I can’t even tell if its a real site or a joke one. It looks real enough, but “Advanced Steering System” just shortens to “ASS” too easily…
Anyone?

Never before. I’m calling it a joke, and a glasser’s nightmare.
This looks like it wont work well…Its probably too stable. Not loose enough
Reminds me of WoodOgre’s kiteboard where he had his center fin in front of two trailing fins. From a cursory glance it seems that it has comparable surface area perpendicular to the bottom to that of a standard thruster set up (therefore it could be loose?). I doubt It could reach jet fighter speeds…but
I sure wouldn’t pass up the chance to try it, heck I would go a ways out of my way to try it.
In an interview, the creator, Don Smith, said he sold his house to finance the project…
Sounds like hes really committed, or should be. Thats a helluva thing to do for a fin !
I particularly like this comment, (see quote) not to knock anything before I have tried it but I highly doubt that this system would provide a easy bypass to the time consuming process of board manufacturing as this quote makes it sound. If anything It seems to complicate the process much more. If those channels aren’t necessary maybe it could be comparable to todays process.
This new advanced steering system has been designed to propel the worldwide water-craft industry into the 21st Century and beyond, by means of a quick fitting system, enhanced speed and sleek performance for surfboards. This concept is an alternative to today’s tedious and time consuming process of board manufacturing.
Or maybe I am reading this wrong, are they trying to say something different
but “Advanced Steering System” just shortens to “ASS” too easily…
LOL!!!
My cup of tea just came out of my nose and onto computer screen
Thanks!
re-DONK-ulous
that’s been out for awhile…
I think it’s in earlier thread in the archives when we were all arguing with Roy about his tube
I’m more intrigued about Earl’s Bird Fins and how they work on his jets as well as this reverse cousteau mast fin they are selling for longboards now in the magazine.
Seems like its like a hydroboard junior kind of thing.
I think it would’ve made more sense putting that upfront on the belly right where the front curve starts leaving the channels with maybe a single flexing football in the back for steerage like a boat…

Yes i have seen a shredda, i also ride a shredda board, and so do 200 surfers around the world!
Yes The Site Is Real/ i suppose its like the old story, crawl before you walk, build a cheap site, get your product out there, once you get some more cash, get a better site built, Stay tuned for the new shredda site, maybe about 4 weeks away.
1-No More Fin Cuts
2-Faster Than Fins/ Higher Areials
3-Sharper Turns
4-Better Stability
5-Plug Ins For Better Traction
What else would you like to know about the shredda???
I think it would’ve made more sense putting that upfront on the belly right where the front curve starts leaving the channels with maybe a single flexing football in the back for steerage like a boat…
That won’t work Oneula, I tried having a big foil ( shield shaped ) mounted three inches from the bottom, right up on the rocker apex, with a single at the back, and it was totally unrideable, the tail just tips the foil up at an extreme angle and the board pops up like a cork… . . . foils need to operate at low angles of attack and the seesaw action just kills it
Regarding that shredda, it’s like a tunnel gone mad. . . . tunnels all toed in and fighting each other. . . square tunnels which don’t promote vortex action, corners everywhere, yuk, I bet it’s slow,
But I’m keen to find out, surely the maker has a video clip ?
Also, the usual question has to be asked when claims of superior speed are made: How about investing $100 in getting some surfing speed readings? Boat based readings don’t count.
.
.
200 surfers world wide and growing are riding the shredda, they all say its faster than fins. WHAT DO YOU KNOW???
I know quite a lot actually
But hey, if it’s true, just grab a gps and a video camera and go for it… . . . a good opportunity I would have thought
This thing has been floating around on the gold coast for a few years now with the guys at shapers aust. who where doing a bit with Don early on saying no one could get it to work they have tried it facing both directions but alas no drive. Just get to the bottom and slide out into a gut slap. Apparently Don has absolute belief in his product and his palm beach store closed due to international demand so somewhere overseas 200 surfers are ripping it up thanks to the ASS.
Dear Darren,
Don has dealt with a lot of shapers that say when the public wont it, we’ll buy it, and they still have their heads stuck up their ASS. And the surfers riding it, love it, and can’t go back to fins, cos there to S L O W! Get with the F u T u R E Man, and enjoy surfing.
Maybe it would have been better to have kept making prototypes rather than shelling out to mould that particular prototype. . . . hydrofoil fins are a fascinating and tantalising but there are lots of pitfalls, I have to say it again (after 10 years of hydrofoil prototype building) that the simple tunnel is the way to go. .
Cut all the corners, get lazy, use a plumber’s half pipe.
The Tunnel spent 1.8 Million, and it fell off everyones board, couldnt even give it away.
The shredda has no complaints, only from people that haven’t ridden it. GO SHREDDA!
Can honestly say that I have never had a tunnel fall off a board and we have been using them since 1999, perhaps you are referring to a ‘tunl’ ? . . . (another square Victorian monstrosity)
The tunnel I am talking about is essentially a piece of foiled plumbing pipe
Good luck with your machine anyway, what’s in the pipeline from you blokes ?

Why oh why did this old thread pop back up on April Fool’s Day ?
Its like the ASS company…way too out there to be true
Edit: April Fool’s is 4/1 in the States…
