The Simzer Project

Inspired by all the mini Simmons things going around, and having lots of free time to lurk, drink (real) beer, and dream up dumb things to try, had this thing pop up.

Was wondering what would happen if I blended some of the people I admire in surfboard design : Simmons, Wil Jobson, and the Campbells… so here it is the Simzer…

Low density eps with 3mm ply stringer. Forgot how easy it is to chunk out foam on the 1lb eps. Pulled in the nose a little, some updated foil, and contours:

Glassed it with 2x6oz bottom, and 3x6oz deck with white/blue/seafoam pigment. Wonky posca pinlines in keeping with the cartoony look of the board.

Pre-sand:

I’ll post some pictures after polishing it this week, and fitting the fins.

Thanks for reading, and the inspiration. Yes, its all your fault…

That thing looks fun!

Nice job.

I like the “sloppy” linework. It fits nicely. What kind of waves do you plan on riding it in?

thanks you guys.

i think the wave range should be similar to what you can ride on a short fish. I’ll post it up again with the fins, and more foil shots, which make it look a little different.

The tail is quite thin, for being so wide, and hope the fins i’m planning to use will help keep that wide tail in check…planning, anyway, lol

well, finally finished it. What a pain in the ass it is to use epoxy in the cold…

anyway, worked out slightly lighter - to feel, no scales were harmed in the process - than my Pu fishes, but obviously bomb-proof.

a bit more foiled out than a mini simmons:

forecast looks good for a test run next week, so will report back soon.

Happy hollow days!
