Thank you JR! S
!!!..Board of the Year…!!! http://www.hollowsurfboards.com
Excellent…I go for it
hey JR great work I love that board jessica is very jealous seeing as I’ve been promising her a board for the last 12 months. She has instructed me to make her a lellow board with pink flowers and lellow stars.I’ll post it when I finally build it.
In the spirit of Swaylocks, I have to ask: What blank did you use??? My daughters are going to be so jealous when they see this one!
Yes it is! I’ve been absorbing as much knowledge as possible the past two years. My first board will be for my 5 year old son. I’m moving up my schedule after seeing this pic. Any tips on dimensions? As a reference I think the board should be no wider than the child can carry. Any other ideas? Thanks, Rob Olliges
I wrote a paper on scaling that has a lot to do with how to scale for really big guys and really small girls. Its somewhere on this hard drive. I’ll try to find it and post it tonight.
that pic was taken 2 mins after I gave it to her, she hadn’t seen it before. man, was she excited! I took it to show a friend (surfer) at his daughter’s birthday party, about 20 4 and 5 yr old girl’s jaws hit the floor at once. HA! it was a hoot~! shaping and sanding is hard on such a small LIGHT board, wanted to flop all over the place. close as I’ve come to shaping a square block. went fast though. Darrin, make sure and post it. Keith, it was a shaped from the middle of a board that was shaped from a 7’4"R. Rob, the dims were what they were, I picked a wide point measurment and used two templates, a fishing pole and a french curve to get the outline I liked. just wanted it to be wide and stable so she’s less likely to be thrown and scared off. carry it? that’s what dad’s are for. she won’t be doing much but bellyboarding the foam for a while…maybe…she’s fearless which scares the shit outta me. Thanks again guys, I’m STOKED!
OH NO – I just showed your picture to my 5 and 7 year old daughters, and now I am 2 more boards backlogged!! They EACH want one just like it… Well, that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it?
That pic made me want to have some kids of my own! how sweet!! you should use one of those pro-teck fins so she doesnt get hurt. I got some for my girlfriend so she doesnt get those scars on her legs/feet like me. thanks for sharing …great stuff!
I did a board very similar for one of my nieces and would like to post a pic. What’s the process these days for posting a pic in a discussion thread. Aloha and need help,Kokua
