Have you checked the archives???
Start there. I made my first fish by just reading the archives.
In retrospect I wish I had made the rails of my fish thinner and the length a bit longer. But that’s for board #2

thickness ? I go with 2 1/2 " on all my boards…but that’s just me
… The commercially made 3 1/8 " thick twin fin ‘fish’ I have from the '70s just feels WAY too bouyant for me. But, when my 190lb mate rode it, it felt fine for HIM !!
width[s] ? a whole variety !
… It’s up to you , what works well for you. If you can maybe borrow a fish or two to try out before making one, that mght give you a bit of an idea.
Again , this is only me , but I like something around 20" wide, 14-15 nose, 14-16" tail. The ones I’ve ridden have had a tailblock / “pod” [end measurement, tip to tip of the fishtail] of anywhere from 7-10 " . SOME go wider though !
Factors like the waves you’ll ride, your weight / height, your ability…all may come in to play. If you have a bit of cash and time, my suggestion is : make one, ride it for a fair while, get another blank and make a change [or two] from the first one
Again , the beauty of making a board for yourself is just that…make it for yourself, just how YOU want it to be !
Well, I hope this has helped in some way, Romey !
regards !
