Yeah Rene’! Busting out #3! Are you talking “hotcoat”? I use a 4" brush, apply pretty liberally lengthwise, then brush out with oblique side to side strokes, first the length of the board one way, then the other. With good light you can see how even your coat is by the subtle color of the resin. “Paste” your laps and all the places that get heavy sanding first. You can probably find better info if you poke around searching “hotcoat” “fill coat” and “pasting”. I just finished a modified version of my 6’ square-tail, ready to glass. Every coat of resin, from lam to gloss, should be as thin as possible. Otherwise, you are wasting resin, adding unnecessary weight, and creating a board that will chip and crack more readily than one with an economical use of materials.
