Thinking about getting a belly bottom Becker Sapphire

Hi all, been a lurker for many years, first post. I used to surf an old Con CC rider 8’0" with a belly bottom and enjoyed it. I saw a cool looking belly bottom at Becker yesterday. It is a 9’8" 22 1/2 x 3. The belly seems a little heavy. I live in San Clemente and looking to surf more beach breaks. Anyone checked this board out yet? I’m hefty at 5’11" 220 lbs. How would a belly work at Sano?

Thanks! Jeff

IMO a belly would work great at SanO, or churches, but not so much beach breaks - Maybe its just me, but I’ve always considered belly more of a point break thing, where you build speed and momentum.  Beach breaks I tend to want something that gets up on plane quick.

Thanks for the reply, I bought the board tonight. It was a tough choice. I went to Stewart’s a few days ago and they have a 9’4" Harbour Cheater (like new, never surfed with a few minor pressure dings) which I have lusted over for years. I decided to go with the Becker tonight. I’ll post pics soon. I love sanded boards without the gloss and the Sapphire looked too good to pass up.

Thanks! Jeff

I have a friend who rides nothing but Beckers, loves 'em!

Don’t think you’ll be sorry.

@Huck, thanks for the vote. Off subject I would like to say I like your signature. Terry shaped my first custom board, the first production thruster out of the old Hobie shop. I connected with Terry again thirty some years later a few times over a shared experience before he passed.

<== to the left.

I have found my 11er made by Ace works well anywhere I choose to surf it.

Even closed out junk surf but it shines with longer lined clean surf.
