This little fishy

Hola all.

Heres a few pics of my new beauty fish. Shaped by a top bloke at cayton bay Yorkshire after lots of hours working out what would work!!!

It’s 6’2" x 16(n) x 22 3/4(m) x 16.5"(t) the tail is actually 9" across the back.

It has very little rocker, was shaped out of a much bigger blank to keep it flat, and was glassed in 2x6 on deck with a 4oz patch, and 1x6 on the hull.

Looks plenty wide, and is a super sweet plum colour…

I’ll let you know what she’s like once Dad duties ease off and I get the chance to take a dip.

AS for fins, I have Carbon MRX for the twins, and I’m using a takayama 8" at the moment. looking for alternatives…

Cheers hope you like.

love the colour ! [I was just saying to “Hicksy” the other day , I wanted to do a burgundy coloured board]

love the single fin setup …move it UP in the box too, eh , and let us know how it goes , eh ?

…well done !

  ben

p.s. - was your “leash loop” a commercially bought one ? …it looks similar to the ones my surf supplier [here in west oz] has .

Am in the process of designing a simillar board, would be keen to hear how it performs twin fin with the mr fins. Will you use the trailer with them?

Cheers Chipfish.

Really looking forward to putting her in. She’s quite heavy as you can imagine, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to get in nice and early on her.

The leash loop was a last minute thing really, I have one on my nineplus mal, and thought it would look sweet. The bloke who did the glassing said he was thinking that the board deserved one… So much nicer than a plug!

So he did it!

The lattened out beaknose is another really nice touch worth considering. I’ll take some profile shots this week.

happy waves all!

PS, SLOP… The MRX carbons are awesome. It turned my old Mayhem swallowtail into a completely new board. Loads of bite and a ton of drive out of the turn. Not sure how they’ll work on this board as it’s way heavier.

Maybe I’ll have to bust Chipfish’s door down for some of his sweeeeeet twins!!!

Cheers

Sweet little board. Love the color, too. I don’t recall ever seeing a board that color. Why the single fin? You havn’t been listening to Chipfish I hope? Kidding. mike

alright Rooster, If we all listened to Ben, there’d be no room for boards with all the fins we’d have!!!

Single fin, not sure, watching some old movies with Derek Hynd, Terry Fitzgerald, Nat Young and Larry Bertleman. Just wanted something a bit different…

As for the colour, I was in the supermarket and thought, hmmmmm, Aubergines!

But our boards would look really cool with all the fin plugs in them. Maybe set a Guiness Bood of World Records for fin set ups. My theory is that Ben’s boards work well not because of the fins, but because of the golf ball dimpling effect he gets from all the plugs. Did I type Guiness? Ah… Good idea. Mike

spoken like a fellow irishman!!!

Slainte!!!

Sat watching something buuild off the coast of portugal…

hmmm,

nick flack out the back!

Why putting just 4 finplugs??

Let’s go further!!!

haha… Fantastic!

You can just see Chipfish now getting a bit of envy!!!

I LOVE IT !!!

I could use nearly half my fin collection on that Neira !

“… if you build it … chip will come …”
