Since today is a rather fishy day. Fish seem to be a takeoff from the traditional shortboards. They have ALOT more volume in comparison to say a 2 1/4" performance shortboard. So technically we’re looking at it being a short longboard for argument sake. Yes it is still a shortboard, but technically, since it is a ‘floatier’ board, wouldn’t pushing towards fins with far more flex than would be used normally on boards this length etc. be a direction of ‘higher’ performance with these boards such as using tuna tail shapes and whatnot? Just looking for some more ideas to put into play with my aquarium of fish! peace Ted
That’s an interesting notion. Speed Fins would allow for this. But personally I find that because of the placement of the fins (more or less on the corners) fish tend to drift a bit more in turns anyway. More flex would increase this tendency. But by changing some other design aspects, to make up for the additional fin drift, you may actully have something.
I’m almost tempted to test this out on my 6’1" ripcurl double swallow fat nose Maybe set it up twin with some super flexy fins… or maybe thin out an extra set of FCS’s i have kicking around… I’ll come back to this if i break out the bench sander and blocks. [smile]
