three grand...

Well , my 3000th post has just slipped by … almost un-noticed by me !

…time to think about what I have learnt / been inspired by here at Swaylocks !

Nearly too numerous to mention . But , I’ll try to pick out the ones that jumped off the screen at me , so far…

(Mostly stuff I don’t get to see much of in the water here in Perth , West Australia. )

Bert Burger’s well illustrated wood fin making thread , and ‘vacuum bagging’ thread

PlusOneShaper’s fin base moulding thread

Blakestah’s rotating single fin

Dale’s surf mats

Paul Gross’s spoons and fins

Zosurf’s MULTIFINNER stubbie [the ‘S.O.S’]

Skeletor’s amusing escapades

Hicksy’s boardbuilding [wood ones] and epoxy use [and use of his shed…thanks heaps , mate !!]

Greg Loehr’s expertise

Paul Jensen’s wood fins , and wood boards

the generousity of so many people who have posted me things …you all know who you are …thank you very very much…

photos from people on the ‘photo’ threads, and every other post

young Josh’s enthusiasm …[keep the stoke , mate ! …I hope you get / got good waves at Noosa this school holidays , feller !]

The English , Irish , Welsh?, Scottish contingent …always seem to get / have a good laugh with you blokes …you guys are hardcore , surfing there !

the fellow Aussies on this site …seems the number grows daily …it’s been great hearing and seeing what you guys have been surfing

of course , the Kiwis too …and the hawaiians , french , spanish , norwegian , italian, south africans , portugese, japanese , germans … [not forgetting the locals (americans), of course !] …wow …“Swaylocks” truly IS a world-wide surfing site . [I LOVE that !]

Run’s spoon boards

Aquafiend’s “stingray”

Shipman’s quality

“Speedneedle’s” spraying skills [airbrush]

“Shwuz’s” ‘fat penguin’, and other interesting creations…

ALL the feedback and “thinking outside the box” that is encouraged here .

Man , in the less than a year that I’ve posted here , I feel like SO much has been going on !! And , that I’ve learnt a fair bit too. [SOOO much more to learn , though!]

Anyways , sorry to ramble on a bit . I guess it’s just I owe you all a big thank you . [I still cringe at the idea of being called a “master” in two hundred posts time though …let me assure you , I am NOT a master of ANYTHING !]…just a bit of a busy poster at Swaylocks , is all …

regards !

Ben Chipper

The biggest “ThankYou” of all goes to Mike Paler, of course , for kindly setting up this site , and making all this possible …thanks HEEEEAAAAPPPPSSSS !!! , Mike !!

good on ya ben

Congrats Chips. You have more stoke than most people I know. You probably have sent more PMs than anyone, too. I appreciate having you on this message board!

Ben,

Well this is my 23rd post & l’m gaining fast…ha ha ha !!

Congrat’s mate on a beautifully written piece, & thank you

for sharing your advise & innermost’s with me in my short

time here.

I’m sure you’ve learnt / been inspired by the crew here as much

as we’ve learnt / been inspired by you (& the hickmiester)!!!

I’m finally starting my 1st board - 5’10" fish any day now & can’t wait,

the fins are foiled ready to glass (thanks to your templates).

Had a heap of household duties in the last month so the board

had to take a back seat.

l’ll keep you & anyone interested informed via here somehow??

l’m still yet to invest in digital camera (the money went on the blank)

Ant

Howzit Chip, With all the posting and picture taking and surfing to boot, you must only sleep about 2 hours a night, But we enjoy what you post so keep up the good work.Aloha,Kokua

Congrats Ben,

I’ve had fun playing in the shed too, just need a bigger shed now with all those wires and curly pipes and machines and the bubbling test tubes set up, working towards the next experiment. (insert evil laugh here…bwah ha ha ha hah ha haaaa,)

I agree with Kokua, you may sleep 2 hours a day but your dreams take up 1 hour 59 mins of that.

Stay stoked.

Anyone willing to donate/sponsor a digital camera for Chip, you KNOW it’ll get used…

You seem to get stoked keeping us stoked chip. Goodonyamate, it feels good, and I’m stoked for you.

cheers guys !

Hicksy ain’t kidding either …about the digi camera OR the test tubes and pipes . Sometimes I think it’s Vincent Price in the shed there late at night , working on …

okay …

Keep up the good work, mate. (Oh, yes, you were here yesterday, too…)

Congrats Ben

you and Hicksy keep the stoke here pure and core bringing me down to earth whenever I get caught up in all these high fallootin discussions on design, chinese and magic boards.

We forget it’s about having fun with your friends and you two guys never seemed to lose sight of that.

Wish I had a 10th of your energy, probably get alot more done.

Best wishes

I’m in your corner Oneula especially with fins etc, when I see all this talk about high and low pressure points, cant, degrees towards the nose, leading and trailing edges, my mind just turns to mush…

I mean WHAT EFFECT DOES THE HOLE IN THE FINBOX WHERE THE FIN ISN’T SITTING IN AND THE FRONT SCREW HAVE ON THE WATER FLOW!!!

Keeping it real, Chip has a look, carves it out and then rides them…
