I heard on late night radio from some geoligist that we are experiencing the biggest tide swing since 198?. He has a theory about the tides and earthquakes. I wonder if it is safe to surf Rincon on the big minus tide today. I guess it would be ok if the wind cooperates. What would it be like to be in a barrell in an earthquake? Roger
That wouldn’t be real surprising - tidal forces are not limited to acting on water.
The whole earth gets squished like a pancake… well, OK, maybe not that flat. But the bigger the tide, the bigger the distortion. Actually it’s the other way around. Never fear eastcoasters… you’ll have at least two seven-foot waves coming through today. Long period waves too…
