Tinting resin

I am trying to do a pinline on a board to match a fabric and I don’t have any matching tints but I do have plenty of the liquitex BASIC acrylic paints.

Would it cause any problems to mix the paint into the resin like a tint? I’m not really too worried about the resin losing strength since it is just a pinline, just about it not hardening correctly or other such problems.

Thanks for the help.

nah bro…that wont work…you need a pigment supplier?PM me…i’ll send u info.

humandrive,

just mix the resin tints into the resin to create the color you want, just like you would mix paint.

I wish I could just mix the tints together but I am trying for a light orange and I only have red, black and a reddish orange.

Why not just paint the pinlines on?

pinline with the acryllic straight outta the tube…that’s how all the Harbour surfboards are done.

Wolud you paint them on before the lam, between the lam and hotcoat, or on the hotcoat?

paint and resin do not go together. Oil and water bro.

Paint them on the sanded hot-coat, before gloss.

Wht not just stop at a local hardware or paint store and get a small amount of just paint pigment from them. Shouldn’t cost much at all and you can get what ever color you dream of.

like balsa said…do it on the sanded hotcoat, then gloss. check out the pinlining video on Rich Harbour’s website (and if you’ve got the time, take a look at all the other vids, too…top notch craftsmanship comin’ outta Harbour / Waterman’s Guild).
